Edge Computing: Is your business prepared for future technology?
By almost any measure, 2019 is shaping up to be a major year for technology adoption. It seems that on a daily basis we are reading about new examples of edge computing including artificial intelligence improving corporate decision making; IoT changing what’s possible in terms of data collection and customer experience; and 5G making it all happen – faster.
But, as easy as it is to get excited about next generation technology, it’s just as easy to overlook the preparation needed to actually benefit from these disruptive technologies. According to a recent survey by Forrester Research, 50% of digital transformation efforts stalled in 2018. That means companies may have good intentions for future technology, but they are likely not prepared to successfully deploy them.
This is where iland and Veeam can help. Our customers know that next generation technology, like edge computing, is critical to future innovation, but they also know that existing IT challenges can get in the way. This includes:
- Reducing or eliminating traditional datacenter costs. Including power, cooling, and floor space
- Moving to a compatible cloud for future growth and efficiency. Reducing the costs of hardware, software, and improving resource flexibility. Also – moving to a consumption-based pricing model for efficiency and global coverage to support future business expansion
- Deploying a robust data security and protection strategy. Incorporating a 3-2-1 backup strategy (3 copies of the data, 2 different types of media, 1 in the cloud) to better protect data against data loss and downtime, and improving security capabilities to prevent (or quickly recover from) internal and external threats – like cybercrime.
On Oct 23rd at 11:00am EST, iland and Veeam will be joined by Glenn O’Donnell of Forrester to discuss some of the realities and strategies that come with new tech adoption – including how iland and Veeam provide an end-to-end ecosystem to address the challenges of today, while helping to prepare customers for the technology they look forward to deploying tomorrow.
